This week, Ruth has:

  • Held MSP advices surgeries at Towerlands, Castlepark, Springside, and Lanfine community centres to listen to and help constituents

 

  • Met with the Federation of Master Builders to discuss the findings of their report, ‘Small is Beautiful, Delivering More Homes Through Small Sites’ and the challenges and opportunities it raises

 

  • As a member of the Local Government and Communities Committee, considered the Implications for Scottish local government of the United Kingdom leaving the European Union and, following an inquiry undertaken by the committee, recommended that the payment of returning officers should be reviewed, in particular to make the process more transparent and consistent

 

  • As a member of the Social Security Committee, took evidence from a range of individuals and groups, including Citizens Advice Scotland and Scottish Association for Mental Health, about Employability and Sanctions

 

  • Taken part in Holyrood’s Burn’s Day debate celebrating the Bard, his Irvine connections, and the Scots language

 

  • Enjoyed being present at the 191st Annual Celebration of the Irvine Burns Club
