This week, Ruth:
- Held MSP advice surgeries at Bourtreehill and Kilwinning libraries
- In Education Committee, took evidence from the Commissioner for Fair Access on widening access to education. Ruth asked about the retention of students once they get to university
- Continued detailed scrutiny of the Social Security (Scotland) Bill at Stage 2. The Committee agreed, amongst other things, amendments to provide that disability assistance, winter heating assistance and employment injury assistance will not be means-tested
- Spoke in favour of and voted for a bold and progressive budget that delivers for communities across Scotland
- Praised Scottish Power’s Quick Credit Voucher Scheme to support vulnerable customers and called for other energy companies to introduce similar schemes
