Ruth’s week in the Scottish Parliament (30 Oct – 2 Nov 2018)

Following the Chancellor of the Exchequer’s Budget announcement on Monday, Ruth asked Derek Mackay, Cabinet Secretary for Finance, just how far the UK Government’s promises on health funding consequentials have fallen from their NHS funding announcement just four months ago:

 

On the same day, Ruth contributed to a Member’s Business Debate discussing a Ban on the Export of Live Animals for Slaughter and Fattening:

 

On Thursday, Ruth opened the Member’s Business Debate which she initiated to discuss Outdoor Classroom Day, a global campaign to celebrate and inspire outdoor learning and play:

Later on Thursday Ruth also spoke in a debate in the Scottish Parliament entitled A Place of Safety: Supporting Asylum Seekers in Scotland, in which she highlighted the UK Government’s failings on its current asylum process:

On Friday, Ruth had an interesting visit with Irvine Royal Academy to Merck, which was showcasing Performance Material discoveries such as consumer electronics, solar energy, high tech chemicals and cosmetics.

The Scottish Parliament’s Equalities and Human Rights Committee is looking for your views on the Children (Equal Protection from Assault) Bill.
