On Monday 26 November, Ruth had the pleasure to address the AGM of Nari Kallyan Shangho (NKS), a South Asian Women’s organisation in Edinburgh, in her capacity as Convenor of the Scottish Parliament’s Equality and Human Rights Committee.
On Tuesday 27 November, Ruth asked the Cabinet Secretary for Communities and Local Government if she agreed with the UN Rapporteur’s assessment of UK Government policy that “if you got a group of misogynists together in a room how can we make a system that works for men and not women, they would not have come up with too many more ideas than what is already in place” – and if she agreed that by embedding Equalities and Human Rights assessments into decision making the Scottish Government can and will do better for women. On Saturday 1 December, Ruth helped Trussell Trust volunteers at Tesco in Irvine to collect donations for North Ayrshire Foodbank.
