Ruth’s week in the Scottish Parliament (17-20 Dec 2018)

On Tuesday 18 December Ruth attended a Parliamentary Reception promoting the work of Scottish Adoption, which included a screening of the award winning film And Violet.

And Violet

On Wednesday 20 December, Ruth asked Mike Russell, Cabinet Secretary for Government Business and Constitutional Relations, about what funding the Scottish Government has received from Westminster regarding Brexit planning.

At General Questions on Thursday 20 December, Ruth asked Jamie Hepburn, Minister for Business, Fair Work and Skills, if it was time that the UK Government stopped dragging its heels on committing to the Ayrshire Growth Deal, and instead joined the Scottish Government and local authorities in signing heads of terms on 25 Jan 2019 to bring much needed jobs and investment to Ayrshire. Earlier in the week Ruth, with other Ayrshire based politicians, also wrote to the UK Government to seek similar assurances.

On Friday 21 December, Ruth further met with the leader of the SNP group at North Ayrshire Council, Councillor Marie Burns, and the Chief Executive of the Council, Craig Hatton, to discuss the Ayrshire Growth Deal.

Finally, on Friday Ruth also had the pleasure to present the Apprentice of the Year Awards at GSK Irvine. Congratulations to the winners!
