Scottish Government Announce Gradual Move to Phase 3 of Lockdown Exit

Ruth Maguire MSP has welcomed the announcement from the First Minister that the Scottish Government will begin to ease into Phase 3 of its exit from lockdown.

The announcement came with additional dates for further relaxations to lockdown restrictions. Starting from Friday 10 July, four households can now meet outdoors in groups of up to 15 people. Additionally, household can meet up to two other households at a time indoors with physical dis-tancing rules applying. Houses can meet with four other households per day in total.

Further easing of restrictions will see non-essential shops inside shopping centres reopening from 13 July. Hairdressers, and indoor hospitality establishments can also reopen from 15 July, subject to physical distancing rules and guidance.

An update on remaining restrictions in Phase 3 is expected to be made by the First Minister on 30 July.

The SNP MSP said: “The Scottish Government’s move from Phase 2 to Phase 3 is a testament to the hard work and patience of everybody who has followed the guidance put in place to save lives.

“The virus has by no means gone away, and we must remain cautious as we enjoy the relaxation of lockdown restrictions and continue to follow the guidance in place.”

“Thank you once again to everybody in North Ayrshire for their contribution to the nationwide effort so far in suppressing the spread of Covid-19.”
