Having received the good news that I have been approved as a prospective parliamentary candidate, I am happy to announce that I am seeking selection for Cunninghame South in the 2016 Holyrood election.
Our current MSP, Margaret Burgess has been an excellent elected representative and worked tirelessly for the area. If selected, then elected I will strive to live up to the example she has set and ensure the people here continue to have a hard working SNP MSP representing them in Holyrood.
I thank colleagues and fellow activists in Cunninghame South Branch who have encouraged me to stand. It was particularly pleasing to hear that they intend to back me based on my track record as a hard working local councillor and campaigner.
The selection contest will happen over the next couple of months and the Scottish Parliamentary election is less than a year away, meantime, I will continue to work hard for my ward constituents and, in my cabinet role, for the whole of North Ayrshire.
