Ruth Maguire, SNP MSP for Cunninghame South, has lent her support to the ‘Hampden Snore’ event taking place on the 30thSeptember. Participants will spend the night sleeping trackside in order to support the work of The Bethany Christian Trust and Street Soccer Scotland. In 2015/16, there were 34, 662 homeless applications in Scotland, a figure which has sadly remained steady over recent years.
Former Scotland mangager, Craig Brown, has urged fans to back the fundraising initiative, stating that:
‘Participating in the Hampden Snore’ is a great way of helping to prevent homelessness in Scotland. Street Soccer Scotland and Bethany do amazing work in transforming lives and this is a unique way to support them. I am delighted to be part of the Hampden Snore and would encourage all Scotland fans to take part’
Commenting, Ruth said:
‘This is an excellent initiative, both raising awareness of homelessness and raising funds to support practical ways to combat it. Bethany and Street Soccer are organisations which undertake life-changing work across Scotland every day, supporting men, women, and families through times of crisis. I strongly encourage my constituents to get involved in this event’
