Motion S5M-03324: Groundbreaking Pilot Project in Fullarton, Irvine

That the Parliament notes that Fullarton in Irvine has been selected as the location for a groundbreaking Scottish Government pilot project aimed at giving children the best start in life; recognises that the trial comes as a result of a consultation to inform the Scottish Government how best to deliver its commitment to almost doubling the current provision of 600 hours of free early learning and childcare to 1,140 hours per year by 2020 for all three- and four-year-olds and eligible two-year-olds; understands that, as part of the trial, children as young as two will receive an increased amount of free early learning and childcare, and that the council will provide tailored support to the parents to assist them in gaining employment training or educational opportunities, and commends the Scottish Government’s commitment to eradicating child poverty and removing barriers to employment for families across the country.
