Embedding Human Rights at the Scottish Parliament

As Convener of the Equalities and Human Rights Committee, Ruth had an opportunity on Wednesday 24 October 2018, to question the First Minister at the Conveners Group meeting within the Scottish Parliament.

Noting that Scotland faces a number of significant challenges to Human Rights protections, including Brexit, Ruth asked the First Minister about her views on the need for the Scottish Government to carry out human rights impact assessments, to ensure that human rights, and a culture of human rights, can be systematically mainstreamed and embedded into the law, policies, practices, procedures and priorities of the Scottish Government.

The following is the exchange between Ruth and the First Minister.
