Ruth Maguire Encourages Funding Applications for Coasts and Waters Events

Cunninghame South MSP Ruth Maguire has called for young people in North Ayrshire to get involved with Scotland’s Year of Coasts and Waters 2020.

YouthLink Scotland have launched a small grants scheme to support young people across Scotland who wish to take part in the themed year’s activities that promote the nature, history and culture of Scotland’s lochs, rivers, shorelines and waterways.

The Scottish Government funded MicrO Local Area Grants will make £45,000 available for local groups and organisations to apply for. This grant has been launched due to interest and demand from local groups who wish to participate in the themed year.

Ruth Maguire MSP said: “The Year of Coasts and Waters 2020 is already bringing some wonderful events to North Ayrshire, such as Signal at Dusk by Cryptic which will take place on Irvine beach, to the Fife Regatta in Largs, plus many more.

“North Ayrshire is home to some of the most beautiful coastal scenery and this grant will allow young people to engage with and learn about their local surroundings.”

The grant is open for applications until Friday 14 February.

Applications can be submitted via the YouthLink website.
